Remediating websites for accessibility can become complicated. While some issues might be simple, sometimes it’s hard to know where to start, and how to be sure issues are fully fixed. Sometimes in fixing one issue, you might not realize that you’ve created new issues. And sometimes there are simple solutions that are not widely known, which would make your life easier.
AccessiCart can be your professional guide for website remediation projects: we will guide you step-by-step through what to prioritize, how to fix, and help keep everything fully documented so you have strong evidence of the work that’s been done.
We’ve worked with remediation projects that are mandated by court settlements or initiated after notification that the site is being sued. We have also worked with site owners who proactively want to improve the accessibility of their website. In any of these cases, having a team of accessibility experts as guides is a valuable part of any successful remediation project.
Platforms
Remediation project management can be arranged for a website on any platform. AccessiCart has worked with sites on WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, and Magento as well as others.
What’s included
Typically, AccessiCart structures and coordinates the entire remediation project with the exception of performing the remediations on the site. The remediations are usually done by the existing website team or development partner. If no such partner exists, AccessiCart can recommend trusted developers for your platform.
Included in the project is:
- Testing & identification of issues
- Organization & prioritization of the issues for the development team, focusing on helping to solve the most critical issues first
- Consulting to help the development team learn how to fix existing barriers without creating new barriers
- Re-testing. When the developers notify AccessiCart that issues have been solved, AccessiCart can retest to verify the fix.
- Documentation of issues fixed and their solutions
Fees
We keep our fees simple: we charge $2,500/month for a six month minimum engagement for this service.
Accessibility projects can take different lengths of time, depending on the capacity of the development team handling the implementations. However, we’ve found that the minimum time needed to deliver a project is typically six months: faster is possible, but will need much more resources on board and guidance to get it done right. If you need the project delivered against a tight deadline, we can quote separately for helping you achieve this in less time.
